Neck Stretches

Please note: Do all neck stretches whilst looking in the mirror to ensure symmetrical stretches

Warning: if you become dizzy whilst stretching your neck, stop stretches at once and contact your practitioner for further advice

1.
  • Kneel on the floor
  • Tip head to the left, ear to the shoulder
  • Use your left hand to pull head down and add further stretch
  • Ensure that eyes remain looking forward and not down at your shoulder
  • This helps maintain correct chin position.
  • Hold for a slow count of 10
  • Repeat on opposite side
2.
  • Kneel on the floor
  • Turn head to the left shoulder
  • Insure that the head remains in an upright position and that the chin is tucked in
  • This maintains correct head position
  • Hold chin with left hand
  • Hold for a slow count of 10
  • Repeat on opposite side
3.
  • Kneel on the floor
  • Turn head to the left shoulder as in the previous stretch
  • Once head is in this position drop chin down towards the left shoulder
  • Hold the head with the left hand
  • Hold for a slow count of 10
  • Repeat on opposite side
4.
  • Kneel on the floor
  • Tilt the head to the left shoulder
  • Once the head is in this position lift the chin up towards the ceiling
  • Hold with the left hand
  • Hold for a slow count of 10
  • Repeat on opposite side
5.
  • Kneel on the floor
  • With the head facing forwards
  • Drop the chin downwards towards your chest
  • Hold for a slow count of 10
  • Repeat on opposite side
6.
  • Kneel on the floor
  • Repeat the stretch above but firstly drop your chin towards your right nipple and then towards your left
  • Hold each for a slow count of 10
7.
  • Kneel on the floor
  • With the head facing forwards
  • Left your chin up towards the ceiling
  • Hold for a slow count of 10
